Richard Christopher 'Rick' Wakeman is an English keyboardist, songwriter, television & radio presenter, author and actor.

 

Rick was born in London on 18th May 1949 and attended the Royal College of Music to study to become a concert pianist. However, he quit his studies in 1969 to become a full time session musician  playing various instruments on hit albums for many artists including David Bowie (Space Oddity), T. Rex, Elton John and Cat Stevens.

 

He rose to fame when he joined the folk rock group 'The Strawbs' in 1969 and 2 years later became a member of the pogressive rock band 'Yes'.

 

He has been a member of 'Yes' for no less than 5 times between 1971 and 2004.

 

Rick has a very sucessful solo career and laterly has become a popular television and radio presenter
