RENVYLE

From the small village of Renvyle in Co: Galway this is the north east view across a corner of the North Atlantic Ocean towards Co: Mayo.

Mweelrea is the highest mountain in Conaught Province and due to its closness to the wild seas is well known for having an extremely volatile weather system which has caught out many a climber over the years.

I stayed in the village for 4 days in order to get a clear view across the bay but it rained continually and, combined with the heavy mists, scuppered any attemps that I made to get my shot.

On the last evening I packed up the car and entered the one and only local bar to order my fish and chip supper. Just as I started to eat I caught the view out of the window and saw the perfect lighting had finally arrived.

Ditching my meal, I ran to the car, grabbed my camera and got just 1 shot before the lighting changed for the worst.

This is the one shot!
