In 1977 John Cleese and Connie Booth appeared together in 'One More Time' at the Ashcroft Theatre in Croydon, South London. They had met in the USA and married in 1968 but were later to divorce.
As a founding member of the Monty Python team, John sprang to fame in 1969 with the success of the hit TV show 'Monty Python's Flying Circus'.
However John started to collaborate with Connie on an idea for a new sitcom which was produced and aired initially on 19th September to poor reviews. It gained momentum when repeated on BBC 2. A second series was produced and finally aired in 1979, some time after John and Connie divorced.
The series won 3 BAFTA awards and topped the British Film Institute's list of '100 Greatest Television Programmes'.
The series was of course 'Fawlty Towers' which stared John as the neutotic hotel manager Basil Fawlty and Connie playing the maid, Polly.
